Welcome to PIES SchoolHouse, a childcare centre where children are encouraged to grow in an active and stimulating learning environment.

We aim to provide:

  • A child-centered environment that encourages competence, motivation and self-esteem.

  • A positive, non-competitive, non-sexist atmosphere that fosters an acceptance of the uniqueness of self and others.

  • A physical setting that allows a child to safely explore self-selected activities.

  •  A learning setting in which teaching means facilitating a child’s intellectual growth through guided discovery in a prepared environment.

  • An experiential, hands-on curriculum that is flexible enough to individual and group needs.

  • Developmentally-sequenced activities that contribute to a child’s total progress in an enjoyable and meaningful manner.

  • Effective communication skills that are interwoven into a child’s daily experiences.

  • Opportunities for family involvement that strengthen the educational programmes, enhance the child’s experiences and lay a foundation for the future of the home-school partnership

Our Philosophy

We recognize that young children learn best through active involvement with their environment.

It is our policy that our Childcare Centre provides an environment for the child that is safe, challenging, supportive, nurturing and respectful of the child and his or her family.

Our curriculum is specially planned in a way that is developmentally and academically appropriate.

We believe that a developmentally appropriate environment and curriculum makes a holistic child.
